Since Ben was 18 mo old, he's gotten strep throat atleast 4 times a year. Poor thing, after 12 yrs of that we finally told the Dr's - PLEASE take out his tonsils! Insurance requires a recorded 6 visits within the year, obviously that wasn't too hard. He misses around 3 to 4 days of school each time he develops strep; we have A and B days; therefore, it is like he is missing almost 2 weeks! Homework is dreadful, he falls behind and he never does get caught up by end of term. His grades and his self esteem have suffered majorly for this - it happens only once a term if we are lucky - twice if it's normal.
Well - Monday morning we headed down to Riverton to the PCMC outpatient clinic. I had no idea there was a clinic other than in SL but it's VERY nice. Also, since it is PCMC you are treated extremely well no matter your child's age. Surgery was only 30 min!!! WOW ! We arrived at 8:30 am and were heading home by noon....very slick. I thought I was sneaky taking pic's of him but I guess not sneaky enough since he sent me a text last night asking for the pic's to be sent to him so that he could post them on his facebook, lol. Dizzy or not, as we were in process of leaving what is he doing? Texting his gf - what a typical teenage boy - shakes head and rolls eyes. They really don't consider themselves a couple - they just both know that they like each other so they text and IM on fb.
Before surgery on Monday, Dean took Ben grocery shopping on Saturday night so that he could pick out his "soft" foods for the next 2 wks. My freezer has ice cream and ice packs - a teacher brought over popsicles :) and my fridge has pudding, eggs, peaches, applesauce - all the nice soft stuff he loves. His throat hurts (duh), and his pain pills are trying to give him constipation (ick), but on the plus side he has a note from the Dr stating he is absolutely NOT to participate in gym for the week when they head back to school. Yeah, this teacher already loves us - hmm, we won't go there.
So Ben is stuck at home between bed and the couch for the entire spring break - what are the other two up to? Anthony is spending it between my sister's house (working) and Shannyn's (hanging out)....Olivia is being typical and jumping between whomever's house she can on that particular day. She would have liked to have been at her cousin's all week but they ended up with spring break a week before ours - stupid school districts. I think I'm going to use this blog as the family one - after all it is "ztroop"blogspot....and I will switch over for the more personal stuff to my book blog. It was supposed to be a book I was writing but it is very difficult to write about something that you are still processing :D. My book one has been closed off for a long time so if you are interested, let me know.
