8:07 pm - We just found out that President Hinckley has passed away. At 97 yrs of age, we are saddened at his passing but grateful that he is now again with his beloved Marjorie. This is the first time the kids have been through the death of a prophet, that they remember, so it is a little shocking for them. Dean and I both remember when President Kimball died, I was 16 and it was a shock to me. Thankfully though, the church is not based on the prophets but on the gospel of Jesus Christ and we know that the new prophet will be called of God and that his church will go forward in faith.

Love the post. He was a good man, leader and prophet of God. One thing that is true of the prophets is that the Lord takes His own and replaces the old prophet with a new that allows for greater progression, growth and leadership.
When you think about it, that is amazing. There has not been one prophet that has digressed the work. These men are truly called of God and the work is the Lord's work not the work of man- otherwise it truly would fluctuate.
